One of the ways Wisconsin Fights Obesity will lower the obesity rate in Wisconsin is through advocacy. Often times, advocacy manifests itself through the school system, community organizations or the political process. Today, we have an opportunity to reach our goal by supporting a piece of legislation that could improve the food we eat.
Congress will soon deliberate upon The Food Safety Modernization Act, a bill that will vastly improve the Food and Drug Administration's ability to monitor food safety in the U.S. This piece of legislation, while vital, will face numerous obstacles in the Senate and House of Representatives, and needs our support in order to pass! Please contact your local representative and senator and ask him or her to support The Food Safety Modernization Act so that we can guarantee a healthier future for America!
